Big Spoon Roasters

OUR MISSION IS TO BUILD A HEALTHIER RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR PLANET THROUGH DELICIOUS, NUTRITIOUS FOODS MADE WITHOUT COMPROMISE.

We believe that food matters.  It should be good for the people who eat it, good for the people who grow it, and good for the planet.

Mark and Megan Overbay have long been passionate about making delicious food  centered around culinary craft, integrity, and sustainability. The inspiration for doing so  through nut butter originated from Mark’s experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in  Zimbabwe, where he missed his favorite food – peanut butter – and decided to make his  own. By hand crushing locally grown peanuts and mixing in salt, honey and coconut oil, he  made one of the best things he’d ever tasted. Back in Durham, North Carolina, he and his  wife, Megan, who had already built a local following for her homemade energy bars,  wanted to share that small-batch, handcrafted approach to food with others, and by doing  so, build a business based on culinary craft, integrity, and sustainability. Big Spoon  Roasters launched their lines of small-batch, handmade nut butters and snack bars in  January 2011.
