After a run as one of our most popular Limited Batch nut butters of all time, Bourbon Pecan Peanut Butter is back as a member of our permanent lineup! Each small batch of this nut butter is handcrafted with fresh-roasted High-Oleic Cordoban Runner peanuts, bourbon-roasted pecans, Organic Vermont maple syrup, Organic cocoa butter, bourbon whiskey, applewood smoked salt, and Jacobsen sea salt. We especially love Bourbon Pecan Peanut Butter with morning toast, overnight oats, fresh apple slices, and of course, in spoonfuls right out of the jar.
For easy entertaining, whip up a pitcher of mint julep, dollop this Bourbon Pecan Peanut Butter on crackers or toast points and call it a day. Trust us – this will quickly become your new favorite snack time routine.
Grown in the high plains of Cordoba, Argentina, our High-Oleic Runner peanuts are 30% higher in heart-healthy fats than other peanuts and are great sources of protein, iron, calcium, magnesium, and the antioxidant resveratrol. These peanuts are also grown in naturally rich soil without fertilizers, irrigation, or pesticides.
You may be aware of this, but most “bourbon” and “bourbon barrel” food products achieve the bourbon taste profile by using chemically created “natural flavors.” We are committed to exclusively using real, minimally processed ingredients, and as such, we don’t use shortcuts like that.
OUR MISSION IS TO BUILD A HEALTHIER RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR PLANET THROUGH DELICIOUS, NUTRITIOUS FOODS MADE WITHOUT COMPROMISE.
We believe that food matters. It should be good for the people who eat it, good for the people who grow it, and good for the planet.
Mark and Megan Overbay have long been passionate about making delicious food centered around culinary craft, integrity, and sustainability. The inspiration for doing so through nut butter originated from Mark’s experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zimbabwe, where he missed his favorite food – peanut butter – and decided to make his own. By hand crushing locally grown peanuts and mixing in salt, honey and coconut oil, he made one of the best things he’d ever tasted. Back in Durham, North Carolina, he and his wife, Megan, who had already built a local following for her homemade energy bars, wanted to share that small-batch, handcrafted approach to food with others, and by doing so, build a business based on culinary craft, integrity, and sustainability. Big Spoon Roasters launched their lines of small-batch, handmade nut butters and snack bars in January 2011.
