As the old saying goes - well, maybe just as we hold true - peanut butter is best enjoyed when shared. Inspired by our founders' love for their playful pups, Grüner and Rioja (who, yes, you can spot on our jar design), Wag Butter came to life so we could share our favorite thing - high-quality, nutritious nut butter - with our furry friends.
Handcrafted in small batches with fresh-roasted peanuts, organic virgin coconut oil, and organic chia seeds, our original Wag Butter - Peanut Butter for Dogs is a canine superfood perfectly suited for dogs' unique nutritional needs.
Your pups will love licking Wag Butter from a spoon, licking mat, chew toy, or right out of the jar. Wag Butter is also a great ingredient for home-baked treats, as well as a gentle distraction during nail trimming and bath time. After stirring, you can refrigerate Wag Butter for a firmer texture that can be used as "pill pockets," and you can even make frozen treats by blending Wag Butter with yogurt and bananas in silicone molds.
And, in case you're wondering, our Wag Butters are so delicious, humans in your family will be begging for a taste, too.
OUR MISSION IS TO BUILD A HEALTHIER RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR PLANET THROUGH DELICIOUS, NUTRITIOUS FOODS MADE WITHOUT COMPROMISE.
We believe that food matters. It should be good for the people who eat it, good for the people who grow it, and good for the planet.
Mark and Megan Overbay have long been passionate about making delicious food centered around culinary craft, integrity, and sustainability. The inspiration for doing so through nut butter originated from Mark’s experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zimbabwe, where he missed his favorite food – peanut butter – and decided to make his own. By hand crushing locally grown peanuts and mixing in salt, honey and coconut oil, he made one of the best things he’d ever tasted. Back in Durham, North Carolina, he and his wife, Megan, who had already built a local following for her homemade energy bars, wanted to share that small-batch, handcrafted approach to food with others, and by doing so, build a business based on culinary craft, integrity, and sustainability. Big Spoon Roasters launched their lines of small-batch, handmade nut butters and snack bars in January 2011.
