Plainville Farm is a third-generation family farm located in Hadley, Massachusetts. Established in 1914 by Polish immigrant Walter Czajkowski, the farm has grown from a modest 10-acre plot into a 200-acre operation under the stewardship of his grandson, Wally Czajkowski.
Specializing in a diverse array of produce, Plainville Farm is known for its hard squash varieties—including butternut, acorn, kabocha, spaghetti, delicata, and the distinctive Bora Bora squash—as well as asparagus, lettuce, cucumbers, broccoli, cabbage, tomatoes, and pumpkins. The farm offers both conventional and certified organic products, employing sustainable practices such as Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and zone tilling to enhance soil health and minimize environmental impact.
Beyond cultivation, Plainville Farm has made significant investments in infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art packing facility to ensure the safe and efficient processing of their produce. Their commitment to community is evident in their contributions to hunger relief efforts, having donated over 160,000 pounds of produce, earning them the "Farm of the Year" award from the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts in 2017.
