In 1999, we took a leap of faith and bought the historic Arethusa Farm, first established by the Webster family in 1868. The family had long since sold the property and over the years it had fallen into disrepair and was slated for development. We didn’t know yet how we would use it, but couldn’t bear the thought of Litchfield losing that open space. Since that fateful day it seems each day has been a new beginning.
Before long, it became apparent that the farm should once again be a dairy, as it had been for over a hundred years. Our first foray into dairying was simple enough, just five cows roaming the hilly pastures. But one thing led to another and soon the old barns were renovated and new ones added, until we had dedicated housing and pasture for the more than 300 cows that reside there today. From the beginning we’ve been committed to providing an outstanding level of care to our herd and it didn’t take long for these high standards to pay off in the form of exquisitely clean, rich milk.
It was this exceptional milk that ultimately led us to build a small dairy plant in the historic Bantam firehouse; it seemed only fitting that we use a building steeped in history to create “milk like it used to taste”. Following the dairy’s success, we opened the award-winning restaurant Arethusa al tavolo in 2014 and, then the bakery Arethusa a mano. Finally, just when we thought we were done, the opportunity arose to add a second dairy store in downtown New Haven and a third location in West Hartford Center. As our family of businesses continues to grow, each new endeavor is driven by our desire to share the quality of Arethusa products with our friends and neighbors.
Battenkill Valley Creamery is owned and operated by fourth and fifth generation farmers, Don and Seth McEachron. The McEachron family has been dairy farming in the Battenkill Valley region of New York for more than a century. Seth’s great-great-grandfather began milking cows in 1902, and his grandfather moved the farm to its current location in 1945, starting with just 12 cows. Today, the herd numbers 540 cows of mixed breed Holsteins, Jersey, and Holstein-Jersey crossbreeds for higher butterfat content, all on 1,000 acres of land. In addition, in 2015 the McEachrons purchased a new farm from the Skellie Family. The newly acquired land sits about eight miles southwest of the creamery down Skellie Road and along the Battenkill River, a legendary trout stream. The new farm is home to 310 cows with a barn, milking parlor and farmhouse along with enough solar panels to keep the water hot.
The hallmarks of sustainable farming abound at Battenkill Valley Creamery. The McEachrons’ cows eat high-quality fresh pasture grasses, including alfalfa and clover, and corn silage the farmers grow themselves, supplemented with minerals, vitamins and molasses. They never get preventative antibiotics or added growth hormones, and they see a nutritionist to ensure that they eat a balanced diet promoting health and high energy. They also get health checks every two weeks to keep them fit and stress free as well as regular pedicures for healthy hooves.
Saving the Bees with Lip Balm?
Bee Bella was founded on a passion to protect the honeybee. This is accomplished by beekeeping, donating to honeybee research, and educating others on the plight of the honeybee.
With every purchase made from Bee Bella, part of the profits go toward honey bee research at the University of Minnesota’s Bee Lab.
The tubes are made from sustainable bamboo, the inside plastic liner is made from ocean-recycled plastic.
Bee Bella’s ingredients are Fair Trade Certified and the company is certified cruelty free. While the Bee Bella team is making great strides, they want everyone to know that when it comes to the bee crisis, there’s still more work to be done.
And through our collective efforts, we can all do some good.
OUR MISSION IS TO BUILD A HEALTHIER RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR PLANET THROUGH DELICIOUS, NUTRITIOUS FOODS MADE WITHOUT COMPROMISE.
We believe that food matters. It should be good for the people who eat it, good for the people who grow it, and good for the planet.
Mark and Megan Overbay have long been passionate about making delicious food centered around culinary craft, integrity, and sustainability. The inspiration for doing so through nut butter originated from Mark’s experience as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Zimbabwe, where he missed his favorite food – peanut butter – and decided to make his own. By hand crushing locally grown peanuts and mixing in salt, honey and coconut oil, he made one of the best things he’d ever tasted. Back in Durham, North Carolina, he and his wife, Megan, who had already built a local following for her homemade energy bars, wanted to share that small-batch, handcrafted approach to food with others, and by doing so, build a business based on culinary craft, integrity, and sustainability. Big Spoon Roasters launched their lines of small-batch, handmade nut butters and snack bars in January 2011.

Burlap & Barrel is a Public Benefit Corporation building new international food supply chains that are equitable, transparent and traceable.
A single origin spice company, Burlap & Barrel buys spices from farmers around the globe, who they call partners. They’ve eliminated the intermediaries who have traditionally bought and sold spices multiple times before any jar of spice lands in a U.S. customer’s kitchen cabinet. This means their spices are fresher than what you can find from the big spice companies. Spices so potent that they suggest new customers use just half a serving at first, as they sometimes get feedback from customers that the spices are too strong. It's not that the spices are too strong, but rather we are just accustomed to cooking with old spices! Did you know that supermarket spices sometimes have been in transit for three years?!?!?
Another benefit to eliminating spice brokers is that Burlap & Barrel can pay the farmers more for their crops while offering quality spices to the public at affordable prices.
Burlap & Barrel is working towards ending inequality and exploitation in food systems that disenfranchise skilled farmers.
They do this by:
Mainstream conversations around food sustainability rarely consider the people involved in growing, harvesting, transporting, processing and cooking food. Sustainability is discussed in terms of environmental impact, or the comfort of livestock providing meat, dairy or eggs.
The folks at Burlap & Barrel believe that the standard measures of sustainability must evolve to consider the conditions in which the farmers who drive global food supply chains earn their livelihoods. Single origin ingredients draw attention to the unique environments in which incredible ingredients grow and to the farmers with the expertise and commitment to grow them well.

What started as a cookbook and catering gig turned into a large scale frozen product business, virtually overnight. Robin Jemal first turned her Dare to Be Different cookbook into a catering business and now sells her frozen products in over 200 stores. Her recipes have been tried and tested for over 10 years.
We got our start back in 2012 when Robin Jemal began creating gourmet kosher meals and treats for family and friends. Over time, the popularity of her recipes grew and grew, and she decided to launch a catering business. It was so successful, she published a cookbook (and a sequel!) of her amazing recipes.
Soon Robin's daughter Jennifer joined the team and brought new inspiration for low-carb and keto-friendly, plant-based crusts, crisps and gnocchis. The new line took off and it wasn’t long before her delicious low-carb pizzas were being carried in local grocers ... and the rest is history!

Eden’s Sweets started as a way for Souja, founder, to follow her passion for creating wholesome snacks and living a healthy lifestyle. Eden’s wellness bars were created in her home kitchen in 2021 when she realized that dates, a staple in her kitchen, was being underutilized in the markets as something that is delicious and nutritious! So she decided that it was time to bring this product to market, made straight from New Jersey!
She began by experimenting with morphing traditional sweets made with the superfood, dates, to more balanced and wholesome snacks. Being an active family, involved in sports and hiking, we needed a tasty snack that would provide functional energy and essential fibers and nutrients. Souja found what she was looking for and more when she created our real-tasty date-based wellness bars, free of any preservatives, additives, or added sugar.
Those bars became a hit with hiking pals, with many requesting several on a hike or a batch to take home. Our treats were a household staple that family and friends would request for parties, events, engagements & more! We would provide to our sons’ sports teams to keep them energized on the field, and many parents would voice their genuine appreciation for a tasty, fresh, sugar-free energy bar. The demand for a healthy wellness bar was apparent, so we knew we needed to provide these bars to more than just our inner circle. We started to provide these bars to local cafes and restaurants, but we knew it wasn’t enough. We created our website to be able to provide people with the most pure, balanced wellness bar on the market.

New Jersey has one of the oldest traditions of growing tomatoes in the United States, and has a long legacy as the origin of many iconic tomato products. From the humble Jersey tomato, now-classic items like tomato ketchups and soups were started right here in the Garden State.
Our tomatoes not only taste fantastic, they are also part of a regenerative agriculture seed trial where we test out non-GMO, open-pollinated, climate change resistant varieties that can better withstand the wild weather here on the East Coast--allowing more opportunity for growing organic field tomatoes in a very challenging climate.
Here at First Field we appreciate this history and know that our state's tomatoes have the perfect flavor for many of your tomato-based recipes. Similar in flavor to an Italian San Marzano, they truly make a better tasting product than many varieties currently available.
We use these tomatoes to make tried-and-true pantry staples with the best vine-ripened fruit from regional farmers we trust. We think it's important to know where the tomatoes we cook with come from, and we know you do, too! As challenging as it can be to be fully traceable, we stand behind our mission of sourcing our high quality produce directly from growers as much as possible, every single harvest, every single year. It's a line of products you can feel good about using in your home kitchen.
We hope you find the same enjoyment in First Field products that we find in bringing them to you.

In March of 2020, after years of dreaming, and months of planning, we moved from an iconic suburban town on the west side of Cleveland, OH to a 100 acre farm in a town of 800 that was full of history and promise, planning to restore the 1787 farm to its original farmstead glory. We are a small farm in historic Hubbardton, VT using holistic, organic and sustainable farming practices to bring high quality, gourmet food to your table. Also a chef, our owner creates unique flavors, in small batches that highlight the season using ingredients straight from our farm and other local Vermont farms that share our passion for regenerative, sustainable farming practices.

Meet the Shulz Family, the force behind Healing Home Foods. What started as a quest by Shelley to use food to heal her family has become a company dedicated to producing top-quality, flavorful foods containing real nutrition.
After her son, Jackson, was diagnosed with Autism in 2006, Shelley removed all dairy, gluten, grains, starches and preservatives from his diet, carefully sourcing all of his food and preparing everything in her own kitchen. The positive changes in Jackson’s mood and health were immediate and profound, leading her on a quest for knowledge about how food contributes to our mental and physical health. A cancer diagnosis for her husband in 2007 led her to dig even deeper to find ways to help her son and husband heal. Throughout her search for nutrition-plus-taste, she tried just about every gluten-free product on the market, only to be disappointed by taste and/or texture. This inspired her to produce and innovate foods that can play a role in the lives of those who favor gluten-free, vegan, and raw regimens—and offer nutritious alternatives to those tired of shelf-stable processed foods.
Shelley’s vision is what drives Healing Home Foods, and centers on her quest to combine nutrition and taste to produce foods that indulge both body and soul. Through years of experimentation, while constantly educating herself about raw food preparation, Shelley experimented widely with flavors and textures in the dehydration process, as well as in baking, to try and produce something totally unexpected and distinctive.
All products produced by Healing Home Foods are gluten and dairy free. Some products are baked; many are raw—dehydrated at very low temperatures to maximize their nutritional value. All nuts and seeds are soaked and sprouted to remove enzyme inhibitors, making them easier to digest. You will never find soy products, artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives in any of the HHF products.
Mary’s love of cooking started at a young age; she made her first apple pie for her family with apples picked from the tree in her yard when she was nine years old. Turning raw apples into a pie was magical and the pleasure her family expressed left a lasting impression. Cooking and eating meals together was a daily event growing up. Her family grew most of their vegetables. Their milk, eggs and bread were home delivered. Meals were often shared with friends and sometimes strangers who became friends over a meal. She's learned to cook from many people and places including Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and the people from around the world she met while working and living in the middle east.
Mary's business life began as a computer scientist working on large scale applications. She's commuted for work across the country and understands how difficult it can be to cook when work, family and social demands are pressing.
Eating and drinking are essential yet far too many of us have been seduced by fast food whose taste is amped with sugar and salt - cheap ingredients keep it's financial cost low but at a high cost to our health.
Healthy Gourmet Kitchen was started when Mary couldn't find pantry staples without added sugars, preservatives, salt or other unnecessary ingredients. Mary set out to create healthy soup starters & seasoning mixes for people who are too busy to cook or maybe not yet confident in the kitchen. She drew on her memories of great meals with the guiding principle of healthy meets delicious.
"We love hearing from our customers how their families loved what they cooked or how they made it different. People return again and again trying one variety after another. People bond over food, it's a universal language, best when shared."

Incloosiv Foods was founded by Kiran, a single mother who knew that in order to properly care for her three children, she needed to prioritize her own health. As a busy working mom, convenience was key but Kiran also wanted to provide her kids with nutritious, wholesome breakfasts. She began experimenting with homemade waffle recipes using simple whole food ingredients like oats, bananas, nuts and flaxseed. To her delight, her kids loved the sweet waffles and didn't even realize they were eating healthy foods!
Encouraged by her family's enjoyment of the waffles, Kiran created a savory lentil and veggie version that she would bring into the office to share. Her coworkers raved about the tasty and satisfying waffles. Once her youngest child left for college, Kiran decided it was time to share her creations with the world by launching Incloosiv Foods.
Made from scratch with nutritious ingredients like whole grains, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats, Incloosiv waffles are a delicious way for families to start the day. Kiran's journey as a mother sparked the idea for wholesome, convenient waffles that appeal to kids and adults alike. We're proud to now offer Incloosiv waffles to our customers.
I originally started making granola to give as gifts to family and friends— it wasn't meant to be a business. Over time, it's become a way to connect with our community, to celebrate the incredible ingredients from a strong network of artisans, growers, and farmers, and to live a more thoughtful and interconnected lifestyle, benefiting our lives and our earth.
We’re so grateful you’re here. Welcome to the Farm!
CHEF JODY HUNTER grew up in a family that gardened, harvested, canned and preserved on Cape Cod. Eating seasonally was not a trend--it was the way meals were put on the table every day.
A graduate of The French Culinary Institute in New York City, Jody went on to work in renowned NYC-based restaurants including Blue Hill at Stone Barns, The Cleaver Company/The Green Table and Savoy which all focused on the nascent dining trend of Farm-to-Table. Creating delicious food from all over the world, albeit with only what was locally available came very naturally to Jody. As Chef de Cuisine at both The Green Table and Savoy, she scoured the Greenmarkets and other local farmer product lists daily for inspiration to create weekly changing menus based on her market finds.
Years later, with a family to cook and care for as well, an opportunity arose in the village which Jody settled at the beloved restaurant The Mill. There she quickly created a popular local following for her delicious and varied seasonal and locally sourced menus until it closed in March 2020.
In the summer of 2020, she created Jody’s Kitchen, and is excited to bring her passion for seasonal cooking with local ingredients from local farmers markets to loyal followers and beyond, while still having the time to navigate a new way of family life.

In 1946, at the seaside resort Quiberon in Brittany, Yvonne and Raymond Audebert founded a summer candy stand called "Les Niches" to serve the hungry beachgoers. They were known for their unique long, warm caramel suckers called "Niniches," made with local cream, salt, and butter according to recipes from their Breton grandmothers. (Brittany has a robust dairy tradition and is the butter and salt capital of France; the region's famous buttery confections developed as a means to use this rich bounty.) It eventually evolved into a year-round family company: La Maison d'Armorine. With the Audebert culinary tradition and the fantastic local ingredients at hand, their caramel business thrived.
Today, you will find La Maison d’Armorine’s range—salted caramels, chocolat noir-enrobed caramels, chewy Florentins, and more—in such luminary establishments such as Le Bon Marché in Paris. Although the business has increased globally, their production and values have not changed. La Maison d’Armorine still has an Audebert (Alain) at the helm and they still use cane sugar and local ingredients in small batch (50kg) production, with made-to-order freshness, cooked in copper pots.
In medieval Europe, there was a belief that spicy foods could "warm the blood" and lead to lustful tendencies. Spicy foods were thought to have aphrodisiac qualities, including mustard. As a result, a few very strict orders of monks were forbidden to eat mustard, lest they fall prey to carnal desires. Other monasteries embraced mustard-making and turned it into an art form. We salute these “lusty monks,” and in that grand tradition, we handcraft our mustard in small batches, with all-natural ingredients that would make our monastic predecessors proud.
Lusty Monk is headquartered in Asheville, NC, and now has distribution throughout the Southeast. You can find the mustard in taprooms and restaurants and grocery stores in Western North Carolina and beyond.
The Marchesi di San Giuliano estate, located in the foothills of Mount Etna between Catania and Siracusa, has been owned by the Castello di San Giuliano family for over 800 years. Today the 22-acre estate is managed by Giulia di San Giuliano and her father. Their land is blessed with uniquely fertile volcanic soil, particularly suited for organically growing citrus groves, avocados, mangos and olive trees. Trees planted in the early 1800s are still bearing fruit! San Giuliano make marmalades and biscuits following old family recipes in a kitchen on a small contrada within the property named Curcuraggi, using only fresh fruit from their own citrus orchards and selected organic ingredients.
The old family recipes date back to the cookbook of Maria Paternò Castello, of the Carcaci ducal family, and the marmalades and biscuits have been part of the family’s breakfast for generations. In the early 1980s, Fiamma di San Giuliano, decided to sell products made from these recipes, using the citrus fruit from the orchards. Thanks to her determination and hard work these products found a place in the market and the business continues to expand year after year.
The fruit is harvested by hand with production taking place during the winter months, when the fruit is mature and ready to be harvested. The fruit is hand-sliced and soaked in cold water overnight. Then it is slowly cooked down and only cane sugar is added. No thickeners or preservatives are ever used. The high proportion of fruit, combined with natural ingredients and strict production standards, insure that San Giuliano products have a traditional taste and texture. Marchesi di San Giuliano products are appreciated for their excellent flavour and artisanal attention to every detail. Serving suggestions include spreading onto toast, using as a topping for desserts and ice cream, and even including as an ingredient in making sauces for game and meat.
The story of Natalie’s begins in an orange grove with a mother pulling her daughter in a red wagon. Marygrace Sexton’s husband Bobby Sexton, a fourth-generation Florida citrus grower, dreamed of producing fresh squeezed juice but was too busy running the family’s packing house to pursue it. Marygrace knew the superior qualities of Florida citrus firsthand. Though she had exclusive access to the country’s best citrus, she didn’t have the same access to fresh juice unless she squeezed it herself or purchased it from a roadside stand. With the world’s best fruit at her fingertips, she was determined to bring her husband’s idea to fruition.
Surrounded by the bounty of her husband’s groves, she made good on the idea that was first intended only to supply her own family with fresh, clean label juice, but soon blossomed into a family-operated, women-owned business that produces some of the finest juices on the market. That was nearly 30 years ago now.
Driven by the same family values from which the company originated, Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Company (named after Marygrace Sexton’s oldest daughter, Natalie), is focused on high-quality, minimally processed juice, squeezed fresh each week. With a commitment to uncompromising quality, Natalie’s goes to great lengths to produce authentic freshness. Human hands select the finest fruits & vegetables. Each order is handcrafted in small batches & pasteurized at the minimum time & temperature to ensure the quality & freshness of each ingredient.
Life is complicated enough. Natalie’s keeps it simple, which is why there are never more than five ingredients in each juice. No preservatives. No artificial ingredients. No GMOs. Nothing to deter you from the optimal health that lives within each bottle of Natalie’s juice.
It’s Authentic. It’s Clean. It’s The Natalie’s Way.
Our Daily Bread is a small, artisanal, family-owned and operated bakery nestled between New York’s Hudson Valley & Capital District.
In 1977, Our Daily Bread Bakery was born in the railroad town of Chatham - we began baking traditional, artisan hearth loaves in the European style & delivering them down to the Union Square Green Market. Not much has changed since then. We use time honored, basic hand-made techniques, we support local farms and farmers by using 50% local grains in our breads, and bake through the night to deliver oven-fresh loaves and mouthwatering, buttery pastries.
It's hard to count the number of times we've been stuck with a bag of horrible tasting health snack we decided to try, and we've tried a lot of them. With a penchant for snacking throughout the day, it became increasingly important to find healthy options that tasted good.
After years spent working in healthcare, we became more and more aware of how a poor diet and other lifestyle choices can negatively impact your health. We drew upon lessons of the past, growing up in a culture where food is used to heal the body and mind. Where plant-based ingredients and foods are celebrated for their functional, medicinal and nutritional value. Food with purpose, that was the idea!
Crafted with the most wholesome foods from around the world, they contain no artificial ingredients, preservatives or added sugar. Each bite is packed with superfoods, nuts and real fruit. We are excited to share our better-for-you plant based snacks, created to elevate and transform your day.

In 2009, Meherwan Irani quit his day job in sales to open his first restaurant – Chai Pani, an Indian street food joint in downtown Asheville, NC. Whether it was a midlife crisis or a stroke of genius is debatable. Since then, the self-taught chef has opened six restaurants, one bar, and now, Spicewalla.
With a James Beard Award for Best Restaurant of the Year at his flagship restaurant Chai Pani and 5 nominations for Best Chef of the year, he’s finally confident this might just be working out. His restaurants have been written up in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, GQ, Food & Wine, Saveur, USA Today, and Bon Appétit, among others.
His latest venture, Spicewalla, harkens back to his roots in India. Every fall, while growing up, Meherwan's family would spend a whole week making their own dhansak masala from the freshest, hand-picked whole spices. They’d roast and grind it all themselves -- a tradition he brought with him when he opened his first restaurant.
When some local chef pals asked him where they could source fresher, superior spices in more manageable amounts for their kitchens, he jumped at the opportunity to share his passion for all things spice, and Spicewalla was born. Today you can savor Spicewalla at more than 1000 restaurants and purchase Spicewalla for the at-home chef in more than 800 small businesses across the country.

Founded by Rebecca Brady, a New Zealander and avid traveler, Top Seedz began in Buffalo, NY, in 2017 with a vision to offer wholesome, nutritious snacks. These include their signature seed crackers and roasted seeds, crafted from simple, organic ingredients. Each product is gluten-free, vegan, nut-free, Kosher, and USDA Organic certified, emphasizing clean eating and sustainable practices.
Top Seedz is dedicated to enhancing snacking with healthful options that support an active lifestyle. They aim to deliver delicious, nutritious, and fun food experiences through their diverse range of products. Their commitment extends beyond quality snacks to include promoting sustainability and responsible sourcing.
Our goal from the very beginning was to provide nutritious products to support holistic health. When we started in 2012, we found that people were constantly falling off their path to wellness with poor snack choices.
We realized that there was a need for clean, nutrient-dense snacks, so we got to work, and Tosi SuperBites were born.
Tosi SuperBites are made from simple, organic ingredients; packed with plant protein; low in sugar; and crunchy and delicious. We know life can be complex. That’s why we are passionate about making healthy snacking simple.
Welcome to Tosi! Stress-free snacking that’s simply satisfying.
Happy Snacking,
