Next Barn Over Farm is a certified-organic vegetable farm in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley in western Massachusetts. Founded in 2009, the farm spans over 40 acres of rich bottomland and is rooted in a commitment to sustainability, food justice, and community connection.
Led by owner Ray Young, a first-generation farmer, Next Barn Over grows an impressive variety of vegetable, from early-season greens and herbs to peak summer tomatoes and peppers, and hearty fall root crops and squash. Their practices prioritize soil health through crop rotation, cover cropping, and reduced tillage, with a focus on long-term land stewardship.
Much of the farm’s acreage is permanently protected for agriculture, ensuring that it will continue to nourish the community for generations to come.
