Located in Springfield’s Indian Orchard neighborhood, Wellspring Harvest is Massachusetts’ first commercial hydroponic greenhouse and the largest urban greenhouse in the state. Established in 2018, this worker-owned cooperative grows fresh, chemical-free lettuce and herbs year-round, supplying local hospitals, schools, and grocery stores.
Built on a reclaimed industrial site, Wellspring Harvest is more than a farm—it’s a community-driven initiative focused on job creation and economic empowerment. Employees, many of whom are local residents, have the opportunity to become worker-owners after a year, sharing in the co-op’s profits and decision-making.
