This hearty and plant based (PB) dal or lentil dish is a mainstay and a comfort food—ask any Indian how often they ate dal or lentils growing up!
You can eat lentil dal as a side or soup—just add water to get to the dal to a lentil soup consistency. The more traditional way to eat dal is with a vegetable (e.g. sabji or aloo gobi) and either steamed rice or Indian breads (naan or roti)—a whole wheat wrap or pita will do just fine. A small cup of plain yogurt on the side makes a delicious dal chawal or dal and rice meal!
